| Join the fun as a contestant in this years pageant to be held April 14th at the RC Worthan Auditorium in the Camdenton High School. This years queen will have so many opportunities awaiting her and the chance to become the next Miss Missouri State Fair! Ages for Miss Dogwood Pageant are 16-22. Contestants must be a resident of Camden, Miller, Morgan or Laclede county. Entry Forms must be received by March 20th. No pageant experience is necessary. We will have a rehearsal full of modeling fun & pageant tips. You will learn all of the walks and turns to prepare you for pageant night. The pageant is run by volunteers in the community as part of the Dogwood Festival and the Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce and is non-profit. All contestants will have fun riding in the Dogwood Festival Parade. Each contestant will develop in the area of personal growth & self-confidence, will meet new friends and learn skills and techniques that you will use for a lifetime whether or not you receive the crown. Just by entering the pageant, you will go further and do better in whatever you choose to do in life merely having the courage to do your best. Competitions will include: (Scoring of the three areas of competition will be 33.33% each) *On-Stage interview (Professional Business Suit or Dress). Interview will be conducted on-stage in the manner of the Miss Missouri final night of judging. Each contestant will draw 3 questions and visit with our emcee in a talk show style interview. Imagine yourself as a guest on the Jay Leno Show and him asking you 3 questions, this should be low pressure and a lot of fun. Your answers, how you present yourself on stage and under pressure, expression, vocabulary, sincerity, public speaking abilities, poise, and posture are all criteria for judging. This style of interview prepares the contestants for the role of Miss Dogwood. *Swimwear or Sportswear (One piece swimsuit in good pageant taste or a choice of Sportswear, all swimsuits need to be approved prior to pageant competition). This competition is judged on on-stage confidence and how the contestant presents herself in comfort and style, physical fitness, health, poise and posture. The judges are asked not to compare contestants, but to judge the contestant on her own body build and ideal size and weight. *Evening Gown (Gown of your choice). The gown should compliment you and you in return should compliment the gown. Judges will be looking for an overall impression of stage presence and personality, walk, posture, carriage and grace, appropriateness of evening gown, and a sense of confidence. The Miss Dogwood Pageant has provided $thousands$ of dollars to local girls over the past 61 years. A $100.00 sponsorship fee is required by each contestant and goes directly to this year’s scholarship fund. Local businesses are the best support for sponsorship money. You may have as many sponsors as you need to accumulate $100.00 and any additional money collected will help raise the scholarships given out for this year. In addition, any businesses that would like to donate new items or gift certificates for our raffle will also be acknowledged during the pageant. The contestant collecting the most raffle gifts as well as the contestant collecting the most sponsorship money will be awarded on-stage during the coronation ceremony. A copy of the “Sponsorship Receipt” is included with your packet or available at www.missdogwood.com/receipt, please make as many copies as you may need. The top half will need to be turned in with your sponsorship money and the lower half is the receipt to be given to your sponsor. Sponsorship money must be received on or before rehearsal on April 3rd and may be dropped off at the Camdenton Chamber any time before then if you wish. 2012 PRIZES MISS DOGWOOD: $1,000.00 Scholarship Crown & Sash Queens Rose Bouquet RUNNERS-UP: Scholarships based on sponsorships for this year Runners-Up Roses ALL CONTESTANTS: 2012 Miss Dogwood T-Shirt, Rhinestone Crown Pin and Full Color Souvenir Program Here is a list of dates to remember: *Rehearsal: Friday, April 6 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm (Good Friday) (Rehearsal will be at the RC Worthan Auditorium in the Camdenton High School) *Pageant: Saturday, April 14 7:00 pm RC Worthan Auditorium *Parade: Saturday, April 21 10:00 am Camdenton R-3 School complex on Hwy 5 located by the Middle School Please fill out the entry form (printable below) AND include one nice photo for publicity ASAP and mail it to the address included or drop it by the Camdenton Chamber of Commerce (739 West US Highway 54 in Camdenton) by March 28th.
